Biography
Background: I was born in Wichita, Ks. and grew up in the small town of Burns. I have three children of whom
I am very proud of. Most of my working career was spent in factory settings. In 2000 after moving back to the area,
I went to work in my first nursing home (a place where I said I would never work) starting in the kitchen as a cook,
becoming a C.N.A. and eventually offered the job as an Activity Director. When offered the position as an activity
director I wondered who would not want to spend their day on the job doing fun and interesting things with the elders
that are like your second family.
Personal Interests: I enjoy spending time with my family, and animals. I am happiest when riding one of my
horses, or just hanging out with my family. I also enjoy doing many types of crafts, which I enjoy sharing with
the residents at Bethesda.
Why Bethesda Home?: My first job at a nursing facility was for a corporate owned nursing facility. The emphasis
was on the “bottom line” and profit was more important than giving what I felt was quality care. Working at Bethesda
Home is like the difference between night and day, where Christian based care is given, with an actual mission
statement being the center for care giving decisions. I am amazed at the amount of BIG support given by the small
community of Goessel for Bethesda Home and its residents, and “it just feels like home.”
